My Work

This drawing was made during a portraiture class I took fall 2009 at the WAM. I enjoyed trying different pencil hardness and softnesses, along with using graphite sticks.

1st Grade Clay Animal

The students in first grade each made a four legged animal with a long neck and a tail. They followed step by step directions when working with the clay. The kids could make any animal that fit this description. These are now on display by the front office in Armstrong!

6th grade Sand Art

The students studied the artist, Andy Goldsworthy and his found object sculptures in nature. They noticed how his work becomes eroded or wiped away by the elements, which was something that the students also realized about their sand sculptures. The only memory left of these is the photo I took or what they recall from art class!

Stone carving

I created this piece last summer while taking a class at the Worcester Art Museum. It was rather fun using the power tools and chisels to carve an image or idea from the alabaster stone.

First Grade Kandinsky Circles

This first grade painting was made after the artist, Kandinsky. The students first learned of the Russian artist and his concentric circle painting, along with his love for abstract art. On day 1, they painted only using yellow and red, yet made all the warm colors. Then, on day 2 the students painted the cool colors. On the third day, the kids used oil pastels to fill in any negative spaces.

This puzzle picture is from 5th grade. It was taken from Picasso's Madame HP painting. Each student was given a smaller piece of the picture, then asked to copy it onto a larger piece of paper. Once they finished the pieces, we assembled it together to make up what you see here!

My work

This is a photo I took on a trip to Key West. My friend and I took pictures of ourselves underwater, then several years later I went to a workshop and changed the image. I also learned the cyanotype photo developing process.

Westborough Public Schools

My student's art work, K-6th grade, can be seen here.

Armstrong Elementary's latest art show will be housed in the Forbes Building for the month of February, 2010.

This piece was shown at the Arts in Common back in October, 2009.
